Itinerary

1st Day: Airport – Hotel (Corpus Christi)

According to your flight schedule, our representatives will wait for you at Cusco airport to take you to your hotel, where you will be welcomed with coca leaf tea. You will have the rest of the day to enjoy the oldest traditional festival in Cusco, Corpus Christi.

Corpus Christi is a religious festival celebrated worldwide, but in Cusco, it is celebrated in a special way. Nowadays, the old neighborhoods of Cusco carry their Saints and Virgins (in Inca times, mummies were carried), and there is a large procession in the main square. On this day, you can see the mix of all social classes in Cusco and much of the Andean Christian syncretism (the mix of Christian and Inca culture). Additionally, you can try the typical dish of this festival, chiriuchu (a dish made with chicken, guinea pig, cheese, roasted corn, tortilla).

Overnight: Hotel in Cusco.

2nd Day: Sacred Valley Express – Chinchero, Maras, Moray, Salineras, and Ollantaytambo – 08 hrs tour

On the second day in the morning at the agreed-upon time, we will pick you up from your hotel to go with our transportation to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This tour is more special than the traditional tour through the Valley because we will visit the picturesque town of Chinchero, where the remains of the royal estate of Tupac Inca Yupanqui are located. You can admire the Inca wall in the main square, very well preserved, and visit the beautiful colonial temple with interesting frescoes on its portico built on the foundation of an Inca building.

Then, we will visit Maras and “the experimental agricultural terraces of Moray.” It is said that in Moray, the Incas created their own microclimate to adapt plants to this altitude. After visiting Moray, we will go to the “salt mines” located near the town of Maras. These mines are still operating today, where peasants work during the day. After visiting the salt mines, we will continue the journey towards the town of Ollantaytambo for a typical lunch at a buffet-style restaurant.

In the afternoon, after lunch, we will visit the architectural complex of Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it against possible invaders. We will have the opportunity to walk through its streets and get a clearer idea of how this military, religious, and cultural center was during the Inca Empire. Later, we will take the train to Aguas Calientes, where our representative will be waiting for you to go to the hotel.

Overnight: Hotel in Aguas Calientes.

3rd Day: Tour of the "Citadel of Machu Picchu – Cusco – 2h30m tour

In the morning, our guide will wait for you at your hotel to take the tourist bus at the bus station to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary (400m ascent along a zigzag path). After 30 minutes, we will arrive at this incredible wonder of the world, Machu Picchu, also known as “The Lost City of the Incas.”

Upon arriving at Machu Picchu, we will present our tickets at the entrance and then start the tour, which will take about 2:30 hours. We will visit the main places of Machu Picchu

When we finish our guided tour, before descending to the town of Aguas Calientes, you can enjoy your lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge Hotel (at your own expense) or return to the town where you will have free time to stroll and, of course, have lunch (at your own expense).

In the late afternoon, we will take the train back to Cusco (depending on the train’s departure time). The return will be along the same route.

Overnight: Hotel in Cusco.
