Finally, and without a doubt, the most awaited day for all will be the visit to Machu Picchu very early, there is the possibility of seeing the sun rise and finding even the most empty place without tumult, easy to take magnificent photos in this magical place, surrounded by a unique and mystical nature, surrounded by a mystery that arouses the curiosity of people from all over the world. We conclude our trip with the transfer from the hotel to the airport, quickly, easily and with total comfort.
Our staff will be for you at the Cusco Airport, to take you to your hotel, just waiting let us know your exact arrival time and flight number. Here, you will be welcomed with a hot cup of the famous coca tea. You will have a free afternoon to acclimatize, as the city of Cusco is at an altitude of 3,399 m (11,151 feet).
NOTE: If your arrival time is earlier than the check-in time, you can use the hotel’s common areas while you wait.
IMPORTANT TIPS ON YOUR ARRIVAL IN CUSCO
The first thing to consider when arriving in our city, is the height, if you feel very tired it is better to rest a few hours and when you wake up take quite a bit of coca. On the other hand, if you already feel well, drink coca tea, it will help you gain more energy and oxygenate the body.
It is necessary to exercise the body a little while doing light walks (you can walk through the Plaza de Armas, glimpse with the colonial constructions or make some kind of purchase).
It is important to drink plenty of water since the body is still acclimatizing.
In the first days it is advisable to eat light meals, and then you can experience the “Cuy Baked” (baked guinea pig), the Incas consumed it as part of their diet. At present, Peruvians, especially Cusco people, enjoy this stew that is tasted only at special events such as birthdays, parties in Cusco, etc.
There is something you should definitely not miss, on your days off, visit the Qosqo Center for Native Art, a music and dance show typical of the region, it is a true show. This show starts at 6:00 p.m., but we suggest you arrive at least 40 minutes before the queue, as it is a very busy place. If you have included in your package the general tourist ticket, you will have free access to this beautiful event. Entrance Ticket: S / 25.00 per person.
On this day, you will explore the marvelous Sacred Valley of the Incas, also known as the Valley of Vilcanota. We’ll start the day by visiting the archaeological complex of Pisac, situated high up on a mountain. This wonderful place is comprised of groups of terraces and architectural structures scattered across its slopes and at the top of the mountain, offering a marvelous blend of landscape and constructions. Next, we’ll head to the craft market where you can admire a wide variety of artworks dating back to ancient times. We’ll pass through Urubamba, where we’ll pause for lunch. Here, we’ll sample typical Peruvian cuisine with a variety of dishes including salads, soups, hot dishes, the famous ceviche, and delicious desserts. After lunch, we’ll visit the architectural complex of Ollantaytambo, a living village built to guard the entrance of this part of the valley and protect it against potential invaders. We’ll have the opportunity to walk through its streets and gain a clearer idea of what this military, religious, and cultural center was like during the Inca Empire. Following the visit, we’ll board the train bound for Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, a hotel representative will be waiting to take you to your hotel.
IMPORTANT TIPS
Always with a good breakfast accompanied by coca tea, we recommend that you only carry a small backpack to spend the night in Aguas Calientes (money, light clothes, documents, camera and personal hygiene items). So your trip will be more comfortable and quiet. The rest of your luggage can be left in the luggage storage of the hotel in Cusco, since on the return you will return to the same hotel.
After the visit to Ollantaytambo you will have free time until the departure time of your train. Time you can use to know the streets of the town and interact with the local people.
If you like to drink coffee, do not miss the opportunity to experience one of the best coffees in the world, which is produced in the Quillabamba jungle and you can find it in several of the Ollantaytambo establishments.
In the morning, according to the scheduled time, our guide will pick you up at your hotel to go to the bus station where you will climb 400m along a winding path for 20min to reach the incredible wonder of the world “The Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu”, also known as “The Lost City of the Incas”. Upon arriving at the Machu Picchu citadel with our guide, we will pass through the entrance and begin the tour of the entire citadel. For around 2h30m we will visit the main places in Machu Picchu.
We return to the town of Aguas Calientes in the afternoon, where you will have free time to enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants (lunch not included). After lunch, we will take the train to Ollantaytambo (depending on train departure time availability). The return will follow the same route as the departure. Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, the train representative will be waiting to take you to the bus heading to your hotel in Cusco.
TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION
Since January 1, 2019, the rules regarding the entrance to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary changed.
Now the time limit for the visit is 04 hours with entry shifts every hour. Our guided tour starts 8:00 am, as the overnight will be in Aguas Calientes.
The visit to the citadel of Machu Picchu is a one-way path; once through a part of the way, there’s no return to that point. Also, there’s no re-entry, once we leave, we can’t re-enter. Re-entering is only possible if your ticket includes the Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu moutains.
In that case, you can only have a 1:30h guided tour, approximately, since it takes more time to climb the mountain.
Important Tips
We suggest you to leave your bags in the luggage storage of your hotel in Aguas Calientes, taking with you only the entrance ticket, documentation, money, a hat, repellent and sunscreen. On the return, you may get back your bags on the way to Cusco.
If the schedule allows, we recommend visiting the Chavez Ballon Museum, wich is the site museum of Machu Picchu. Admission from 12:00h is free, just present your valid passport.
In both low and high seasons, it will be necessary to line up to board the bus and the train towards and back from our destination. Our crew will help in order to save your time.
TIPS THAT CAN MAKE YOUR TRIP EVEN MORE INCREDIBLE
Depending on the time of your flight, we will collect you from your hotel and take you to the Cusco airport. This marks the end of our services.
NOTE: If your return time is later than your check-out time, you can use the hotel’s common areas while you wait.

No. Tour cancellations due to bad weather conditions are non-refundable, as these are factors beyond our control.
According to the latest updates from the Direccion desconcentrada de Cultura de Cusco, all entrance tickets to Machu Picchu are for personal use. Therefore, tickets purchased for Machu Picchu are not reprogrammable, nor transferable to another date and/or person, nor are refundable.
The company that takes you by train to Machu Picchu does not allow you to take a suitcase of more than 5 kg. This means that most people pack a smaller backpack to spend the day in Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu, but people have doubts about where the larger luggage will stay during this time, you can leave it in the storage of the hotel in Cusco, at no extra cost.
PeruRail and IncaRail, the companies that provide train services in Peru, do not allow you to choose the seats on the trains. The distribution is done automatically by the company’s system.
We usually recommend to book the Expedition/Voyager train for the outbound trip and the Vistadome/360° panoramic train for the return trip, mainly because the outbound trip only has earlier departures, so this would mean missing the guided visit to the Ollantaytambo archaeological complex.
Fiebre Amarilla vaccination is not mandatory for visitors to Peru. However, it is an additional precaution, especially since it is a tropical country.
Travel insurance is not mandatory, but it is extremely important, especially for tourists who decide to travel to Peru.
The standard voltage in Peru is 230 volts, however, in some hotels there are plugs with 110, in this case, there are transformers that reduce the voltage.
Almost all establishments accept payments in dollars, so this will be the most used currency in the country. The ideal is to have an amount of dollars and a smaller amount of nuevo sol to make purchases at craft fairs, for example.
It is recommended to take dollars with you and exchange them in Peru at reliable exchange houses recommended by the travel agency.
The country’s weather is divided into two main seasons: rainy and dry.
The rainy season runs from December to the end of March and the dry season from April to October. In the region of Cusco and Machu Picchu, there is a lot of variation in temperature, but normally the maximum reaches 20°C and the minimum is close to 0°C.
In the Lima region, on the coast of Peru, temperatures are higher and range from 12°C to 35°C.

EXCELLENT Based on 857 reviews Andres Lack2025-01-01Verified Buenísimo! Silvana D2024-12-10Verified Me sorprendió Me encantó!!
