Explore the Sacred Valley before continuing to Machu Picchu on this 2-day tour from Cusco. In Pisac, you’ll visit the archaeological site and local handicraft market. From there, you’ll continue to Ollantaytambo, home to one of the main Inca archaeological sites in the valley. You’ll then board the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo, where you’ll spend the night.

The next morning, you’ll take the bus up to Machu Picchu for a private guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours & 30 minutes. After your visit, you’ll have time for lunch or to explore Machu Picchu Pueblo before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo and continuing to Cusco.

Itinerary

DAY 1: Cusco - Sacred Valley of the Incas, Pisaq and Ollantaytambo - Connection Aguas Calientes (08 hrs tour) - in group

On this day you will visit the wonderful Sacred Valley of the Incas. Also known as the Vilcanota Valley.

We’ll start the day by visiting the archaeological complex of Pisaq, located on top of a mountain. This wonderful site is made up of groups of terraces and architectural structures scattered across its slopes and on the top of the mountain. A wonderful blend of landscape and buildings. Next, we’ll go to the handicraft market where you can see a wide variety of work from ancient times.

We’ll pass through Urubamba where we’ll take a break for lunch. We will taste typical Peruvian cuisine with a variety of dishes including salads, soups, hot dishes, the famous ceviche and delicious desserts.

After lunch we will visit the architectural complex of Ollatantaytambo, a living settlement built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invaders. We will have the opportunity to walk through its streets and get a clearer idea of what this military, religious and cultural center was like during the Inca Empire.

After the visit, we’ll board the train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, the hotel representative will be waiting to take you to your hotel.

DAY 2: Machu Picchu - Cusco (2h30m de tour) - private

In the morning, at the scheduled time, our guide will pick you up from your hotel to go to the bus station where you will climb 400m up a winding path for 20 minutes to reach the incredible wonder of the world “The Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu”, also known as “The Lost City of the Incas”. When we arrive at the citadel of Machu Picchu with our guide, we will pass through the entrance and begin the tour of the entire citadel. We’ll visit the main sites in Machu Picchu for about 2.5 hours.

We’ll return to the town of Aguas Calientes in the afternoon, where you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants (lunch not included). After lunch, we will take the train to Ollantaytambo (depending on the availability of the train departure time). The return will follow the same route as the outward journey. When you arrive in Ollantaytambo, the train representative will be waiting to take you to the bus to your hotel in Cusco.

We normally include Circuit Classic 2A. this is the designed Route for your visit to Machu Picchu, subject to availability.
If Circuit 2A is not available for your travel date, you can choose Circuit 2B – Lower Terrace, depending on ticket availability.

Is the Machu Picchu entrance ticket included and guaranteed when I book?

Yes, your Machu Picchu entrance ticket is included in the tour. However, tickets are limited and availability must be confirmed for your selected travel date.
For this reason, we recommend booking in advance. Once your reservation is confirmed, our team will arrange your Machu Picchu entrance ticket based on the availability for your travel date.

Are the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tours private or shared?

Which places will I visit in the Sacred Valley before traveling to Machu Picchu?

On the first day, you will visit some of the Sacred Valley's most representative sites, including the Pisac archaeological site. You will then stop in Urubamba for lunch before continuing to the Ollantaytambo archaeological site.
After your visit to Ollantaytambo, you will head to the train station and continue your journey to Machu Picchu Pueblo.

Yes. The tour includes one night at a 3-star hotel in Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes), with breakfast included the following morning.

What should I do with my main luggage while traveling to Machu Picchu?

We recommend leaving your main luggage at the front desk of your hotel in Cusco and traveling to Machu Picchu with only a small, comfortable backpack.
Bring only the personal items and essentials you will need for the 2-day trip. Traveling light will make your train journey and transfers much more comfortable.

What time will I return to Cusco on the second day?

Your return time to Cusco will depend on your scheduled train departure from Machu Picchu Pueblo to Ollantaytambo.
Once you arrive in Ollantaytambo, transportation will be provided for your return to Cusco. Your final arrival time will depend on the train schedule assigned to your reservation.
