Day 1: Cusco – Km 82 – Wayllabamba

The transfer will be waiting for you in the lobby of your hotel to take you on the bus to the KM.82. At this spot, you’ll start the trek. The first day the trail is easy to go on and a good warm up for the following days. The tour guide will be providing some information about the archeological complex of Llactapata. After that, you will continue your hike to Wayllabamba and ascend up to Yuncachimpa, the campsite where you will be spending the night. From here, we have a great view of the mysterious Peak of Veronica.

Day 2: Wayllabamba – Warmiwañusca - Pacaymayu

You will climb the long steep path up to Warmiwañusca, or Dead Woman’s Pass. At 4198 m (13769 ft) above sea level, passing through Llulluchapampa, this pass is the highest point along the trek. This climb is known as the most difficult part of the Inca Trail. At the pass, we have a spectacular view of the Andes before beginning the descent to our campsite in Pacaymayo.

Day 3: Pacaymayo – Chaquicocha - Wiñaywayna

You will climb the second pass of the hike at 3998 m (13113 ft). We will visit the archaeological remains of Runkuracay, and then we will begin our descent to the archeological site of Sayacmarca. After lunch, you will arrive at the archeological site of Phuyupatamarca, or the ‘Town above the Clouds,’ at about 3650 m (11972 ft) above sea level. The trek will finally take us to Wiñaywayna, which will be our campsite on the last night.

Day 4: Wiñayhuayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco

On the final day of the hike, you will climb the steps to the Sun Gate, overlooking the peaks that surround Machu Picchu. When the morning is clear, there is no way to describe the feeling of the first views you get of Machu Picchu. After spending time at this gate, we will go down to view its various areas, and then take the bus to the village of Aguas Calientes, where we will take the train back to the city of Cuzco.
